mouse medicineThis morning I woke up and realised that there was another being present in the house.

The first give away was a rustling among the paper bags stored in a box under one of our kitchen units.

Now, I wouldn’t say I was the least jumpy person in the world. But neither am I a leap on a chair and start screaming type. However, my heart did speed up a little bit when, right in front of my eyes, a quite substantial mouse leapt out of the box.  And then ran across to the of cooker and sat there staring at me!

Fortunately, the mouse very quickly made its own exit via a hole at the back of our cooker. Which, after a few deep breaths, left me to ponder…

what mouse medicine is all about…

In Native American traditions, mouse represents two very different but useful things.

Firstly, this tiny but powerful animal totem speaks to us about scrutiny. Mouse is a reminder to look at the details. But NOT to obsess and over-analyse. Sometimes we have to switch our lens and focus on the bigger picture. You’ll know for yourself where you habitually sit on that spectrum!

And secondly, mouse reminds us that we can only bring the magic of the big picture and our personal dreams into being, if we develop a system. Once we systemise what we know and what we want to create, we can then concentrate on taking the smaller steps.

So, you may not want this particular small ally to join you for breakfast each morning (I know I wasn’t too keen!). However, as an animal totem, mouse can be a very important friend to us sensitive types.

Very often, we spend a lot of time connecting to our dreams. We can build castles in the air, but neglect to build solid foundations so that those projects can come into land.

Mouse is a powerful reminder to structure our time and commit to routines. Which doesn’t mean giving up our freedom.

Its a question of balancing two things.  The feminine, intuitive mind (what Einstein describes as the sacred gift).  AND the rational, action-based masculine mind (what Einstein describes as the faithful servant).

Mouse medicine lets us know that both “being” and “doing” are required to ensure we achieve our goals.

Bright blessings,

Estelle

I needed to read this today, thank you! Mice are a bit part of my life, and this has reminded me that they have a lot to teach me still 🙂
